Final Exam
In “ The Lesson” by Toni Cade Bambara a young middle class woman called by the name of Miss Moore in an underprivileged neigborhood is critcized by the young teenagers. These underprivilegd individuals have no proper way of having a serious conversation and lack of general education. Miss Moore was the only black female with a college degree, but her knowledge and great appreciation put her in the position as a “ Teacher” for the underprivileged neighborhood. The young individuals hesistated to learn arithmetic and basic education, but their ignorance made Miss Moore profession untolerant. These young individuals had a really bad attitudes, no respect, bad thoughts, and were always taking Miss Moore as a game rather than a experience in school. In contrast to “ The Growing College Gap” where Tamara Draut describes how African American, Latino, and lower-income students are more likely to attend a two-year commmunity college or other programs that will lead them to get a degree. In “The lesson” the young individuals do not realize the bi picture, but rather whine and criticize everything Miss Moore is acknowleding for them; therefore in “ The Growing College Gap”  the individuals are financial unstable and do not meet the financail requirements because of the income their parents receive. Tamara Draut said “ gaps in enrollment by clas and race, after declining in the nineteen sixties and nineteen seventies, are once again as wide as they were thirty year ago, but are getting wider, even as college has become far more crucial to lifetime fortunes.” Young Individuals like Latinos has less percentage of attending a private university or four year college because of the income their parents receive and the lack of general education. Wealthier young individuals are expected to graduate with a degree and continue the cycle for a higher class family, but if a latino earns a college degree it is more of a completion and success toward their future careers. If first time individuals gradutes with a degree that guarantees him a job security, but puts him/her in the middle class section. The individuals in “ The College Gap” want to go to college, but do not have enough money or are undocumentated. In  “ The lesson” the young individuals do not want to go to college and prefer to stay at home and hang out with their friends. These two different types of view makes us realize that individuals who have the opportunity to get a college degree refuse to, rather than, the individual who can’t. Many African Americans and Latinos are stereotype based on the hard labor and family backgrounds. “ The Lesson” and “ The College Gap” is a perfect example of young individuals who have different views about college and  most of all their needs and want.

Pan's labyrinth

In Pan's labyrinth the character has a magical chalk that leads to a different world. The character is a young girl around her teens, but when she uses this magical chalk she flip over the sand drop container and has that only amount of time to get out of the different magical world. The young girl uses the chalk and ends up in a dungeon. She steps inside the different world and walks until she met up with a monster and a table full of fruits and food. It seemed the monster was having a feast, but he seemed frozen with no eyes and could not move. The little girl had no interest for the monster and was looking for something different like a sword. She had a key but no door to place the key in until she found three little door and one contained the sword. She had three magical fairies which try to tell her where which door was the sword in. She decided to choose her own door and open the right one. The sword was gold and luxrious, but as she got the sword she looked at the table of fruits and food. The little girl was trying to eat a grape from the table, but the fairies tried to tell the girl she shouldnt do it. As she ate the grape the monster woke and up and tried to kill the little girl. This film is dream like!

Pleasantville

In the film Pleasantville the background is totally black and white, but the one of the characters is fully colored. This puts the audience attention to the colored character and fouceses on the genre and mood of the film. Throughout the film a couple are sitting down in the dining area discussing that her wife should go to a meeting and have dinner ready by 6:00 pm everyday! After her husband tell her what she should do, his wife denies and refuses to make dinner and go to the meeting, but instead tells him she put lunch in a brown bag. She also told him how to heat his own dinner by twisiting the knob of the oven and telling when and how long the dessert should be ready. This type of film put a confusion and anrgy mood for the audience, but also it makes it interesting due to the colored character. His wife walks away from the houses and say she leaving but doesnt hell her husband where. It seems she is moving out or running away!

Film Study

Films are tapes that are recorded throughout a movie session. Films keep records and material which can be used for future references or material to look back on. Important material is kept to compare the different aspects and view people had in the past and how that reflects our ideas. We read a film by watching it on a screen. It is a serious of images and sounds moving a really fast paste like a movie. A film is more than just a movie or material, but it is an important piece of information to rely on to make debates, articles, presentations, announcements, and to compare and contrast!!!

replacements analysis

In the music video the background was gray and black making the audience believe it was around the 70's or earlier 80's. Music video song gave the audience a sense of life. For example, stressed out, emotionally hurt, desperate, and needs help. The camera concentrates on the speakers and audio system for the majority of the song putting the audience in a different point of view and confused not knowing whats going on. Suddenly a guy comes by and takes a ciggarete and smokes it in his couch. As he does he lays back and puts his feet up against the side of the couch and seems he is relaxing. Suddenly he get up when the tempo of the song has a little bit more excitement and faster rythm making him get up and hit the speaker with his leg and dropping everyhting from the top of the speaker. He then walks out  of the house all mad because the noise he makes with his mouth provide the audience information on what kind of mood and problems he might be facing. He smokes the ciggarette to calm his nervous down, but he eventually bursts.
